- The Surgiwear “SYNTHETIC FABRIC PATCH” is suitable for repairing defects in soft tissues & reinforcement of soft tissues such as dura mater, peritoneal pleura, etc. the patch is made of poly propylene (same as prolene mesh). each pack contains one patch.
- Indication–
- Medium G-Patch is indicated for the repair of Dura mater, repair of peritoneum or places, where ever soft tissue repair is required.
- Contraindications -The presence of infection (meningitis, ventriculitis, skin infection, bacteremia, septicemia, and peritonitis, etc.) whether local or general, prohibits all kinds of implantation procedures. It is advisable to avoid implantation in such cases.
- Also, G-Patch is not a strong fabric. When stitching in high tensile areas, it may not hold and may give way.
- Furthermore, in the Surgical procedure: The implantation of G-Patch is a simple procedure. The patch can be shaped and cut as per requirement. It will be stitched with the tissue around the defect. Special care is required to use it as a dura substitute. Watertight stitching is required to avoid leakage of CSF
It should not be used without reinforcement in the repair of the peritoneum. The choice of exact procedure depends upon the training of neurosurgeons, customs in that hospital, country. . - These are available sterile by EO gas in double peel open packing.
